La Verne, California, June 7, 2001 –––– AdminiSoft today announced the introduction of HIPAAxchange™, a standalone software solution that enables payers to comply with provisions of HIPAA (The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996). This Act regulates how healthcare information is to be transmitted electronically between payers and other healthcare entities.

Designed as a “plug–and–play” application, HIPAAxchange™ can be installed at the licensee's location without impacting the daily operation of the existing legacy system(s). HIPAAxchange™ includes technology that has been accepted by the Electronic Healthcare Network Accreditation Commission's (ENHAC) Standard Transaction Format Compliance System as syntactically correct and validated for acceptance by any trading partner.

ENHAC's Standard Transaction Format Compliance System (STFCS) was created as a response to HIPAA in an effort to provide accreditation to entities that send or receive HIPAA–regulated transactions, or that transport or process EDI transactions between two or more trading partners.

HIPAAxchange™ is a comprehensive, cost effective solution for payers to meet the October 16, 2002 compliance deadline, and encompasses:

– Secure communications
– EDI and HIPAA rules validation
– Transaction encryption
– Trading partner management
– Complete tracking and audit capability
– Automated transaction confirmations

AdminiSoft also announced that its first HIPAAxchange™ contract was signed with the Screen Actors Guild–Producers Administrative Corporation located in Burbank CA. The agreement calls for the implementation of all eight HIPAA standard transactions by the end of 2001.    

HIPAAxchangeTM is an Oracle/Sun–based application that supports a web front–end. The first production–ready transaction will be released during July 2001.
